What??? How???” he asked incredulously. “One moment you were on the floor, but now…”

Leia held her tongue, allowing the human to ponder the illusion.

“A magician never reveals her secret” she replied, coyly.

The human was taken aback. That was not the response he was expecting.

What do you know about magic?” he challenged.

“Please,” she retorted. “I’ve studied all the greats. Houdini, Copperfield, Mistoffelees. I even filled in one summer for Teller.”

The human was impressed. He was unaware this cat had such talent.

“So,” he asked, “how are you gonna get down?”

“Well, for that part of the trick I need a volunteer,” she winked, looking straight at the only human in the room. “I need you to open the closet door and pull down the ironing board. Then I need you to position the laundry basket right under it, just so.”

She waited as her enlistee did as instructed. As he finished, her tone took a more sardonic turn.

“Then, next time, I need you to pay attention before putting all those things away!” she groused as she descended the makeshift staircase.

“And for the record, Teller never took a summer off!”
