The official police report listed it as “an overnight burglary with no surveillance footage available.” According to the branch manager, who was the first to arrive the following morning, all the security cameras had been smashed and the crooks made off with all the money in the vault.

But the manager wasn’t telling the entire story. Yes the cameras were shattered and yes the thieves were organized and precise. But one image, taken a split-second before the recordings went dark, remained in tact.

The manager downloaded it to a flash drive and deleted the original. No one needed to see this still shot… assuming, of course, no one tried to cheat him out of his cut of the loot.
